I don’t understand it

Posted by Nick Milne on June 25, 2009

With the exception of the truly enormous and gratifyingly popular post about the Eucharistic desecration fiasco last year, this post, about nothing important whatsoever, is the most popular and widely-distributed one I’ve ever made.  On any given day it still gets the most hits out of every single post ever.  How bizarre.

A post about the Belgian comic book character Tintin is the third most popular.  I guess these things just happen.

If I had to take a stab at it, I’d guess that the prominence of a certain word used repeatedly on the page having a higher rate of occurrence in google searches would be why your other posts are getting the relative shaft.

  2. My most popular post is a guest post from a friend of mine, so popular because people google the word “twirls” and find its embedded image. My #2 post is a post about the Joker from The Dark Knight. That thing, at its height, brought in 100 hits a day.

Yes, it’s probably some mundane thing like that. I know the Tintin one is only so popular because of image searches, and I can only presume that the title of the other post and its repetition therein wins it the attention of those trying to figure out where those popular and bewildering lines of music come from.
